Two Poems: Beyond and Catch a Wave

By Celia Shaneyfelt

BEYOND

Beyond the darkness of the night
a new dawn awaits.
Beyond the cold of winters blast
the spring will come again.
Beyond the black clouds in the sky
a rainbow lies in wait.
Beyond the broken bleeding heart
I know that healing lies.
Beyond the storms that plague our lives
will be a peacful calm.
Beyond the tears that wash our cheeks
there will be smiles again.

CATCH A WAVE

I have memories, I have dreams.
Life isn’t only what it seems.

Catch a wave, ride it wild;
Live the moment like a child.

On the mountain pouring rain,
Bubbly essence of champagne.

Catch a wave, ride it wild;
Live the moment like a child.

Yellow tent, beetle climb;
Steal a moment out of time.

Catch a wave, ride it wild;
Live the moment like a child.

Water racing over rocks.
Stepping outside of life’s box.

Catch a wave, ride it wild;
Live the moment like a child.

Nourish memories, build up dreams
Life ain’t always what it seems.

Catch a wave, ride it wild;
Live the moment like a child.
